Dorothy began her writing career in the second grade when she made her first handmade book for a class project. From there, her passion for writing blossomed into a full-time career.
2001 was a special year for Ms. Thompson. She became the proud
author of her first book - a children's eBook - called No More
Gooseberry Pie! and, in that same year, she opened up The Writer's
Life to help writers learn how to become published authors.
In that same year, she was inducted into the Children's eBook Hall of
Fame and also won Honorary Mention for a poem titled "Nobody's Child"
in Athina Publishing's Silver Sword Contest which was published in
Athina Publishing's Icedlatte Quarterly.
In 2002, Dorothy was honored with her first paying gig as a freelance
journalist with her article "Local Convenience Store Clerk Foils Armed
Thief" which not only appeared on the front page of The Eastern
Shore News, but in the Salisbury Daily Times and USA Today. Of that
same year, she became the recipient of the Outstanding Author
Award from The Book Review Cafe.
In 2003, The Writer's Life won a spot in Writer's Digest Magazine's
Top 101 Websites For Writers, a major accomplishment for an ezine
whose webmaster had only learned how to use the computer and
create her own websites two years earlier.
2004 was another remarkable year for Ms. Thompson. The Writer's Life won another top ten spot in the Preditors & Readers Poll and her first print book, Romancing the Soul (Zumaya Publications 2004) became published.
With the publication of Romancing the Soul, Dorothy found a need to help others understand the soul mate experience and, thus, began writing on the subject. Her articles appear in hundreds of online publications, and she has been featured in the May/June 2004 issue of "Pleasant Living", a magazine for the Chesapeake Bay and River Country. In August 2006, one of her relationship columns was picked up by "Quilter's Home Magazine" and will be published in their October 2006 edition. Quilter's Home Magazine can be found in any Barnes & Nobles Bookstores around the country.
2007 promises to be an eventful year as her paranormal romance that she wrote with co-authors Heide Kaminski and Pam Lawniczak, The Search for the Million $$$ Ghost, will be released by Mardi Gras Publishing, and her second relationship book, The Soul Mate Triangle: Unlocking the Mysteries of the Soul Mate Relationship will be published by Zumaya Publications.
Dorothy has also been a special guest on many radio programs including Lifetime Radio, Single Talk (World Talk Radio), Cuzin Eddie Show with Penny Sansevieri, among many others.
As far as special talents, Dorothy claims to be just like anyone else. With a dream to become published, she made it happen. With her help, she can show you how to find your dreams, too. She welcomes any questions on the publishing industry, eBooks, relationships or just to provide an ear to anyone who needs a second opinion.
